About
This project will improve the quality of open-source fonts dedicated to the public domain. The plan is to develop tools to encourage the translation of font designs from ink to screens. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to get involved.
I am learning to design type by going ad fontes . So far, I have been:
Studying Latin with Collar and Daniel’s First year Latin, Ora Maritima and a copy of the Vulgate.
Studying Greek with Crosby and Schaeffer’s An introduction to Greek and a copy of the Septuagint.
Learning calligraphy using a broad-nib pen and Marc Drogan’s guide.
Practicing bookbinding
I hope to eventually:
Learn stone carving
My planned typefaces are:
Griffo-esque old style serif
Caslon
Garamond
Century
My goals are to translate type designs from the printed page to screens.
